What is your personal medicine?

Date

What I have learned in my own journey to holistic health and living is that medicine doesn’t always come from a pill, a procedure or a promise from a provider.

What I have learned through trial and error; time and experience is my personal medicine includes sunshine, sunrises and sunsets, meditation, reiki, nature, walks, the proper nourishment of body, mind and spirit, music, dancing, watching the birds, walking and connecting with friends, safe spaces, time alone, journaling, warm blankets and many other things that help me to remember that I am capable of healing myself with the right support and the knowledge of what fills my soul.

It is with my own experience and belief that to find one’s own personal medicine, one must take the time to rest, to be still, and go within. These are necessities when finding your own personal medicine.

My list will look differently than yours, but do you know what your personal medicine includes? Do you know what makes your heart sing, engages your mind, makes your body strong and Spirit soar? Once you know what your personal medicine entails; that’s when you begin to cultivate self-care. This is holistic health.

Now, I will add here that I do have wonderful providers within my life that have listened and continue to listen to me and support my health story and how I live my life. I am grateful for the role they play but, again, they are not all that I need.

Knowing one’s own personal medicine helps direct how to consciously live one’s life. By consciously choosing what supports them in their body, mind and spirit; one creates the life they want to live.  This is holistic health and living in a nutshell.

I invite you to begin today to find what elements are needed to make up your own personal medicine. If you already have some knowledge, them embrace them, practice them and continue to give yourself time to find out what else it is that makes you holistically whole. What does your body, mind and spirit need?
